Share Your Work - May 2026

Welcome to the Pizza Shop!

Well, the streak was bound to end at some point. I know I'm sending this a day late. To be honest with yall, I'm not even really sure where May went. But here's May's newsletter nonetheless <3

This Month’s Games

This month was a lil light on games. I found myself out of town or busier than normal, so I've just got a couple to highlight for ya this month.

On Stream

Tethergeist

I've been excited about Tethergeist for a while. The developers have been creating DevLogs over on YouTube for a while and I've really loved seeing how the game has progressed over the years. I backed in on Kickstarter and I knew it was going to be a game that I played as close to launch as possible.

And, don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying it so far, but I haven't gotten to make a lot of progress with it. I've been having some computer issues for the last couple of months where Steam games will lag and the audio will mess up and Tethergeist is being affected by this. With a precision platformer, it's pretty important that the game is responsive to give you an actual shot at hitting the movement that it's looking for. Unfortunately, I'm not the kinda gamer who can do that with lag lol. So, while Tethergeist is on pause for me, I still highly recommend the game. The movement tech in it is gonna be really fun to learn and I'd love to see the devs get a little more support for the game.

Die in the Dungeon

Okay, I know that I've talked about this game before, but I love it lol. Die in the Dungeon is a dice builder game where you're a lil frog who's tryna not die in the dungeon. The enemies are cute, the music is a bop, and learning how to build synergies has been really fun. It's finally out of early access and it's been very cool seeing all the ways the game has changed since they dropped the first demo for it. I'd highly recommend if you like games like Slay the Spire II.

Flinthook

This is a game that I find myself returning to every once in a while. I'm not particularly good at it (the falling rocks always seem to find exactly where I'm standing and not paying attention). But it's so much fun to play. You're a lil homie who's tryna take all the loot from enemy pirates. There's roguelite elements, but mostly it's an action platformer built around the grappling hook. While I wish that it was a lot easier to see the different traps and danger spots in rooms, it's still a good time on this game.

Cassette Boy

Y'all know I love a game that forces you to look at things differently. Cassette Boy does just that. In Cassette Boy, if you don't see something, it doesn't exist 🙂. The bulk of this game is built around the idea of rotating the world to hide obstacles, enemies, and even bosses behind the environment so that you can make your way through the world. Also, in the beginning of the game, I got to swipe a legendary sword from a dude who thinks that he's the legendary hero, so that was a good time.

Similar to Tethergeist, I was having some audio and lag issues with this, but I'll be back at it once I deal with those PC issues!

On My Own

Nocturnal

I picked up Nocturnal after it was free on Steam about a month ago. I wasn't really sure what to expect from it, I just knew the art style looked really pretty and I was on the lookout for a shorter game to play on my own. They market it as a 2 hour game and I clocked in just over 3 hours, so I'd say that's a pretty accurate average for it. This is an action platformer game, similar to a much more linear Dead Cells style game with an interesting story behind it. You play as a soldier who returns home to try to free it from an ever spreading Mist. There are secrets to find and enemies to fight and it's a solid way to spend part of your afternoon.

It's on sale for $4.24 USD on Steam until June 14th 2026!

Sharing Your Work

I've talked about this before, I know. But I cannot express enough how important it is for us to share work that we're comfortable sharing. And I don't just mean posting it online. Last weekend, I was handing out copies of mini-zines that I had made talking about my favorite food spots in St. Louis. These are places that I frequent a lot and want to help support in the ways I can (especially right now when my finances are a bit tighter than they have been in the past). The conversations that I've gotten to have because I shared the zines with the restaurants and a couple of other folk have been so so cool. It's an easier way of making connections with folk when you're sharing something that you're proud of that also helps them learn something new. (In this moment, I kinda want to do a live stream where we make mini-zines together. Would y'all be interested in that?). It's also led to some other potential opportunities, but I wanna hold onto those until I have some more details to share.

And, to be honest, just getting to share my appreciation for something is enough. I didn't expect to get any sort of opportunity after sharing my lil zine. But I've gotten to do an art trade, learned more about the folk I shared them with, and just got to see people light up when they see their space represented. It definitely makes me want to create more things that celebrate the places that have made my life better and then share them with the people featured.

So, this month, I encourage you to take a risk and share work that you've made that celebrates something. It could be a video, an art piece, a mini -zine, a poem, anything. If you're comfortable, share it with the person who inspired you to make it. As creatives, we know how much it means when someone tells us that their creation had an impact on them. So, if you can, try to do that in June. If you wanna let me know what you did, feel free to respond to this email. I'd love to hear about it <3

My Content for this Month

Slice of Calm Club

Thanks to everyone who's a part of Slice of Calm! I sent out the postcards today and I'm hoping they make it to everyone safe. If you're interested in learning more (and signing up), you can visit my Ko-Fi page for more info! https://ko-fi.com/pizza_yeti/tiers. This is a monthly snail mail club where you get a postcard version of a picture I've taken and a letter (with some occasional goodies). I may also be brainstorming another snail mail club, so stay tuned for that.

Streams

In May, I streamed 4 times! You can check the VODs on YouTube if you missed any. I've been having a decent amount of issues when it comes to playing Steam games, so I'm working on some solutions for that. Hopefully that'll let me feel a bit better about streaming!

YouTube Videos - Reflective Plays

The Celeste videos have continued over on YouTube. I should have 2 out this week once I finish up the edits! There's only a few more levels in the game and then we'll be starting up another reflective play!
